The Co-Chairs provide overall leadership to the advancement of Health Consortium priorities and business. They are responsible for setting meeting agendas, leading meetings and providing general oversight.

Nancy Clifton-Hawkins

Co-CHAIR
Nancy Clifton-Hawkins has served City of Hope since 2013 and is responsible for the Community Health Needs Assessment and Implementation Strategies development process. She has worked as a health educator at the County of Orange and has also served in voluntary positions with the Orange County Breastfeeding Coalition, the Brea Family Resources Center Advisory Council and the National Council for Health Education Credentialing. She holds a Master’s Degree in Public Health from Loma Linda University, where her disciplines were Health Promotion, Education and Global Health.

Christian Port has worked for Planned Parenthood Pasadena and San Gabriel Valley (PPPSGV) since 2012, where he currently serves as the Senior Manager of Business Development. Including his work as co-chair for the Health Consortium, he also serves as Treasurer for the San Gabriel Valley LGBTQ Center, co-chair of City of Hope’s Community Benefit Advisory Council, member of Huntington Hospital’s Community Benefit Board, and member of the Glendale Healthier Community Coalition’s Steering Committee. He is also a founding member of the National LGBTQ Task Force Los Angeles Executive Committee. Christian completed his Master of Public Administration at USC’s Price School of Public Policy as a Dean’s Merit Scholar.

Deborah L. Silver
DIRECTOR
Deborah L. Silver has worked with the Health Consortium of Greater San Gabriel Valley since 2001 and now serves as the Health Consortium’s Director. Deborah has provided leadership and support to all facets of the Consortium’s functioning, including coordination, administration, organizational development, strategic planning, fund development, program development and project management. She has an extensive background in community-based strategic planning, facilitation, coalition building, organizational development, and resource development.
Prior to her work with the Health Consortium, Deborah served as Division Manager for Health Promotion and Policy Development at the Pasadena Public Health Department where she oversaw numerous programs including tobacco control, violence prevention and health improvement initiatives. She obtained her Master’s Degree in Applied Social Psychology from Claremont Graduate University, where her research and studies focused primarily on organizational behavior and health psychology. Deborah has also served on a number of nonprofit organization boards of directors, including Day One, Planned Parenthood Pasadena and San Gabriel Valley and Pasadena Child Health Foundation.

Missy Saffell
Program Assistant
Missy Saffell serves as the Program Assistant, providing administrative and digital media support for the Consortium. She has a background in Business Writing and Communication, and has worked in education and the non-profit sector for over 10 years.
She obtained her Master’s Degree in Rhetoric and Writing Studies from California State University, San Diego, where her focus was a combination of writing studies, pedagogy, technical communication, technology, and culture.
