SUMMARY:Webinar - LGBTQ+ 201: Best Practices to Address Implicit Bias and Advance Health Equity
DESCRIPTION:LGBTQ+ 201 Training for Health Care Providers PowerPoint Slides \nSee Webinar Recording Here: https://youtu.be/Tc8pqhk2tXA \n  \nWebinar Series Description: \nOver 16.5 million Americans currently self-identify as LGBTQ+ (Gallup 2020)\, including nearly 16% of young people in Generation Z. More than half of LGBTQ+ individuals have had a negative experience or have reported discrimination in health care\, and the COVID-19 pandemic has exacerbated health disparities that exist in the community. In order to reduce these disparities and to provide quality health care to LGBTQ+ people in the most effective way\, providers and institutions must understand how LGBTQ+ people’s identities\, experiences\, and relationships with the world around them impact their health. \n  \nThis interactive\, two-part webinar series trains health care practitioners\, social service providers\, and support staff to apply best practices in serving the LGBTQ+ community. It is not necessary to have attended the first webinar to attend this second one. We welcome you and your commitment to serve your LGTBQ+ patients more inclusively. \n  \nIn this second webinar we will build off of foundational concepts in the practical health care setting and will discuss 1) collecting and utilizing sexual orientation and gender identity (SOGI) data\, 2) providing affirming health care and social services to LGBTQ+ patients using a whole-person approach\, and 3) best practices for creating an LGBTQ+ inclusive health care practice or service organization. \n  \nObjectives: \n\nDefine sexual orientation and gender identity (SOGI) data points\, as well as the methodology for collecting and utilizing this data.\nDiscuss the challenges that LGBTQ+ people experience in accessing health care and social services through a trauma-informed lens. Identify tools for addressing implicit bias\, privilege\, and heteronormativity in the care setting to create an inclusive experience.\nExplore ways in which a whole-person care approach can be leveraged to provide affirming care and services to LGBTQ+ people.\nShare best practices that organizations can implement to become more LGBTQ+ inclusive.\n\nhttps://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZUrdOyprTojGNIyUtbWePhYljFrgmWKsDl1
